Fukuoka Smart East will be a smart city that solves social issues through innovation, and the project is finally becoming a reality! The town will be built on the former site of Kyushu University’s Hakozaki Campus. In the future, private businesses will be openly recruited to participate. On October 5th, we launched a Market Sounding initiative to gather opinions from private business operators on the conditions required for this community's development and the open call for participation.

Market Sounding will help us build the best version of the grand design
The Market Sounding initiative will allow us to hear opinions and suggestions from private business operators. We will use this information to move forward with the future public offerings we pursue while making the grand design a reality.
We are doing this because we want to ensure the grand design is executed to fulfill its highest potential. By hearing suggestions from private business operators on aspects of the grand design, we will get their views on the matters, goods, and services they feel will benefit the development of the town.

Fukuoka Smart East’s grand design and goals for the future
We aim to construct a smart city that will be a source of pride for years to come. As a result, our Market Sounding program is seeking opinions from private business operators on the following four categories that are currently under consideration:
Services*
We are evaluating smart services that will solve social issues through innovative ideas and cutting-edge technology. The 11 smart services fields illustrated in the grand design fall into three major categories:
· A city where people can live safely, securely, and healthily.
· A disaster-resistant and environmentally friendly urban infrastructure.
· A vibrant city that drives growth.
Below is an overview of the service categories for which we are requesting proposals:
* Smart services are various services that utilize cutting-edge technology and private businesses' ingenuity to solve social issues.
Urban Solutions
We are looking for solutions that could be implemented in the smart city. These can be business and research solutions that connect people and companies, as well as social and activity solutions where people will gather and bring new vitality to the region.Urban Space
The Hakozaki area is rich with history, and we want to maintain that while also creating a pedestrian network and incorporating green space. In addition, we will need to incorporate open spaces due to the dangers posed by the coronavirus. We will think about what conditions are required to create an urban area that is comfortable for residents and in harmony with the surrounding environment.Managing Town Development
Of course, management is necessary when considering various services and how to implement them. There must be mechanisms in place to allow local residents to use urban spaces and urban solutions. We also need to define the scope and roles that private businesses will play, such as how they will cooperate with the surrounding areas.
